Biography:
Barry Lavery has recently been the Artist in Residence for the Frick Park Nature Reserve and photographed a project on nesting hawks in the West Desert of Utah for Hawk Watch International and the Bureau of Land Management. He served as the staff photographer for WPHL-TV (Philadelphia) and as contract photographer for Impact Images and Photo Researchers (New York). His work has been published in The New York Times, Little, Brown and Associates, MacMillan Publishers. He was a documentary project photographer in Haiti, Cuba, New York and Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh Cultural Trust). He is a member of the National Press Photographers Association. Having taught photography and photojournalism for 35 years at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, he retired in January of 2005.
