Biography:
"John Strait is an independent software developer based
in Pittsburgh, PA, and an amateur panoramic photographer. He is the author
of the popular panoramic stitching program, The Panorama Factory.
John's interest in panoramic photography was born in the early 1980's at an
exhibit of 360 degree panoramic photographs. Unfortunately, the cost of equipment
and processing for film-based panoramic photography put this medium outside
his reach. The recent development of panoramic stitching software now makes
panoramic photography possible for anyone with a conventional digital camera
and a reasonably current computer.
John has 27 years experience as a software developer, specializing in graphic
user interface design. He moved to Pittsburgh in 1979 and has worked for a
series of small startup companies here. His company, Smoky City Design, sells
The Panorama Factory through direct internet sales and also supplies software
contracting services. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University
of Minnesota.
